On this quick tip we're going to see how we can use Vertex Maps as masks using VrayforC4D.
nice and how about a vertex map as a vrayshader ?
As far as I know VrayforC4D doesn't have a vertex map dedicated shader. This is why I'm using the C4D's Vertex Map shader.
no vray has no vertex shader, this is actually one thing i am talking with Vlado, that might be great added to the vray sdk so we can connect that to c4d vertex maps
that would be great...
Is there any way to use this with DR? I've been trying and have been unable to get it to work.
you can use the c4d map and shader as without DR, and use the onthe fly shader baking tool in vray options, then it renders also in DR.
we also try to get a native vertex map shader into vray shaders for v3
for the while you can bake a vertex map (use c4d vertex shader and bake result, the baked bitmap you can use in vray as mask etc)
Sadly I just tried to use vertex maps with 3.4 and it doesn't work anymore as in the above tutorial!
we got a user file and i forwarded it to the devlopers. it shoudl work same as in 1.9, i hope they can check that
Thanks Stefan! Looking forward for the conclusion!
Hi Stefan, any news on this?
I'm also curious if this feature will be in 3.5? or future update?
yes, please re-add this feature soon.
all the new features are quite useless when i can`t work with older scenes anymore.
in 1.9 it worked!
As far as I can see, in 3.5 nightly build c4d vertex maps works as in 1.9.
it works only with one vertexmap, not with multible.
Hmm, maybe I am understood this wrong, but I can combine multiple Vertexmaps via the c4d Layer shader and it works under 3.5.
i put the vertexmaps in the material weight slot. then i stack multiple materials to an object and tick "mix textures". so each material has its own vertexmap as mask.
i need it to blend various materials on huge landscapes. sadly the usage of vertexmaps in combination with other materials sticked to polygon selections never worked.
OK, I see what you mean.
